Mac foundation nc45. I was very excited to try this product from MAC as I am an enormous mineral-foundation fangirl. I have tried everything from Bare Minerals,Everyday Minerals, to drugstore versions such as L'oreal Bare Naturale, Physicians Formula Mineral Wear and Maybelline Mineral Power.
I always order MAC products online, because unfortunately, I have a hard time receiving good customer service in their stores-albeit that is a different story that I will have to tell another day. Anyway, as convenient as online shopping is, the downside is that you can't physically test what your perfect shade would be. I looked up NC30/35 shade equivalents for the mineralize foundation and most people suggested either Medium or Medium Plus. I was a medium dark in the blot powder, so I assumed Medium Plus would be the better shade as medium dark would be too dark.
Upon receiving the product and judging the packaging, my initial impression was that it was going to be too light. During the warm summer months I am NC35, but right now I am in a sort of transitional phase-my neck and face is still lighter than the rest of my body.
I buffed the first layer of this loose foundation onto my face. The coverage is sheer, and seemed to blend onto my skin.
I then buffed a second layer in order to get more coverage, but I realized that the more powder I packed on the darker it became. In terms of fuller coverage, this foundation is definitely a tad darker than my actual shade.
Medium Plus is going to be darker for NC30 shades.

Under natural lighting/ sun light, I can definitely tell that my face is much more orange and a tad dark than my neck. I then buffed some powder onto my neck and down to my chest to blend the foundation with the rest of my body. I took the photos afterwards, which is why you wouldn't be able to tell that there was a shade discrepancy- which brings me to my next point. The foundation photographs extremely well, despite the SPF in it. Then again, I was wearing a darker shade, so maybe that's why it did not give me a white cast. It also has subtle hints of shimmer, which gives the skin a slightly luminous glow. As someone who has combination-oily skin during the summer, this made my t-zone look quite shiny after a half hour. If you have very oily skin, I would not recommend this product to you.
In summary, this foundation gives sheer to medium coverage, and it seems that no matter how many layers of foundation you put on this one doesn't get cakey. You can wear it on its own, or, you can definitely use it to set your liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer. I definitely recommend this product more for people with dry skin. Despite it making my t-zone look oily, I still like it and I am going to set it with a mattifying powder (like Bare Minerals' mineral veil) to counteract the greasy look.
